TOUR DE FRANCE 204

TOUR DE FRANCE – GRAND DEPART

For the first time in its 120 years of history, the 2024 edition of the Tour de France has chosen an Italian debut on the occasion of the centenary of the first victory of an Italian cyclist, Ottavio Bottecchia, at the
tour. There are three scheduled appointments: on June 29, 2024, the first Italian stage will take the caravan from Florence to Rimini, while the following day, Sunday, June 30, the tour will start again from Cesenatico to Bologna. The third Italian stage will take instead from Piacenza to Turin on July 01. In particular, the stage arriving in Rimini will pass through the roads of Romagna where Marco Pantani used to train. The Italian start of the tour is indeed a tribute to Pantani and the other Italian champions who have marked the history of the Tour: Gino Bartali, Fausto Coppi and Vincenzo Nibali.
Cesenatico and all the Romagna are ready to welcome this great sporting event. We are a land of cycling and tradition projected towards the future, where legends of the sport were born and where breathtaking cycling routes, infrastructures and events await for you in every season of the year.
