Challenge Cesenatico, scheduled for Sunday, May 10, 2026, is preparing to welcome athletes from all over the world for an event that promises excitement and adrenaline. The course, divided into three segments, has been designed to enhance the athletes' abilities and offer a captivating setting between the sea and the Romagna hills. Here are the detailed characteristics of the three trials.
SWIM SEGMENT: 1.9 KM IN OPEN WATER
The race will start from Cesenatico beach, in front of Colonia AGIP. The course involves a single 1.9 km loop, with the first change of direction positioned halfway between the shoreline and the breakwaters. After a left turn and a straight section, athletes will face the buoy turn, followed by a second change of direction that will bring them back to the transition area (T1). Sea conditions can vary rapidly, making the swim segment a challenge not only physical but also strategic.
BIKE SEGMENT: 90 KM BETWEEN SEA AND HILLS
After the swim, athletes will enter the transition area on Viale Carducci, from which the 90 km cycling course will start. The route consists of an initial 10 km section, followed by a 35 km loop to be completed twice, and a final 10 km segment for the return to Cesenatico. The circuit crosses the Romagna hills, offering spectacular views and technically challenging sections.
To ensure the smooth running of the race, athletes must respect the following time limits: the cycling course must be completed by 2:30 PM, under penalty of disqualification, while access to the second lap of the circuit will be allowed until 1:00 PM.
RUN SEGMENT: 21 KM ON CESENATICO'S PROMENADE
The final part of the race will take place on a 5-lap multi-lap circuit, totaling 21 km, entirely flat. The course winds along Cesenatico's picturesque promenade, with the finish line and athlete area located at Colonia AGIP on Viale Carducci. This segment represents the final challenge for athletes, who can count on public support throughout the course.
