Along the Canal Harbour, redesigned by Leonardo da Vinci in 1502, Cesenatico’s maritime history comes to life among boats, sails and the charming views of colorful houses. The Maritime Museum — the only one of its kind in Italy — displays historic vessels and nautical artifacts. As you stroll, you’ll come across the Piazzetta delle Conserve, once used for food storage. Overlooking the canal is also Casa Moretti, the former home of the 20th-century poet Marino Moretti, and the Leonardo da Vinci Art Gallery, the town’s art collection. During the festive season, the Nativity of the Marineria, set on the ancient boats of the museum, transforms the canal into a living work of art.
