* Garibaldi's statue has its own history. A little further on, the Venetian Columns are still clearly visible, a symbol of the passage of the Republic of Venice which left an architectural mark with the installation of the Venetian columns on the bridge of via Saffi. The Doric-style columns, made of pink granite, were erected during the brief period when Cesenatico fell under Venetian domination, between 1503 and 1505. Still today a testament to this passage, the columns have not suffered damage over time, while the capitals have been restored because they were damaged during the last world war. Curiosity: it is said that the capitals were the base for two sculptures representing the lion symbol of the Serenissima: the Venetians took them away when they left the City.
