Cesenatico, welcome to the land of sport
As every year, the month of May marks the beginning of the bathing season and the official restart of great sport in Cesenatico.
Cesenatico, moreover, with its beach, its spaces, and its facilities, has always been the ideal habitat for a sporting holiday. A passion that comes from afar, from a culture imprinted in the genome of a land that gave birth to great champions, such as Giorgio Ghezzi, the 'kamikaze' of the 50s, one of the very few goalkeepers in history to wear both Inter and Milan jerseys; or like Azeglio Vicini, coach of the National team of the 'Magical Nights'; or like Marco Pantani, the Sea Pirate who conquered mountain peaks, writing memorable pages of modern cycling.
And cycling, with the historic appointment of the Nove Colli granfondo (this year it will be held on May 19, 2024), remains the most widespread sport in this corner of the Riviera where the “bike-friendly” culture is much more than just a slogan.
The city center streets and the promenade are in fact bordered by a modern network of cycle paths that naturally connect the entire city, as well as the more peripheral hamlets. In Cesenatico, moving around by bicycle, rollerblades, or electric smart-mobility is a pleasant habit, the true 'elixir of long life' for the locals.
And then there are the seven kilometers of beach with natural beach volleyball courts, beach soccer fields, and all that range of sports and pastimes that have always animated the life of the city's 127 bathing establishments. And for those who prefer softer entertainment, there's always a foosball match, a frisbee challenge, or the centuries-old ritual of marble racing.
The stretch of sea in front of the Ponente area is instead the ideal location for water sports. Here, twelve months a year, great wave enthusiasts gather, those who enjoy themselves on surfboards or with the more spectacular variations of kite, the latest discipline of that sailing universe which, in Cesenatico, boasts solid traditions and some internationally significant events (such as the Easter Sails).
The latest addition to the rich list of city facilities is the skate park, a very modern basin equipped for roller enthusiasts. Nestled in the Levante park, the 'bowl' quickly became a lively gathering center for young people and families.
Equipped with modern infrastructures - from the municipal stadium 'Marino Moretti' to the Palapeep for basketball and volleyball - Cesenatico also boasts a rich proliferation of sports associations that, especially at a youth level, promote the practice of sport at all levels.
In the city, located in all neighborhoods, there are gyms, tennis courts, five-a-side football pitches, and basketball courts, as well as two extensive public parks where it is possible to jog, practice yoga, do muscle awakening exercises, or simply take walks. In this regard, it is worth noting the 'Cesenatico Walks' initiative which, one evening a week, offers very popular 'health walks' for those who love to take care of themselves through physical activity.
